STEP BY STEP DIRECTIONS TO CHECK OUT YOUR PRESSURE TANK
- First turn off the power.
- Drain all the water out of the tank by using a cold water faucet closest to the tank.
- Check the amount of pressure with an air guage on the top of the tank when the tank is empty. There should be about 2 pounds of air less in the tank than where the pressure switch/gauge kicks on. If the pressure switch/gauge is at 30-50 like it should be, then you want 28 pounds of air in the tank. If the air pressure is less, leave the faucet open and add air up to 28 pounds.
- Next, turn the power back on.
- Let it pump back up and run the water until it is clear.
- Keep an eye on the pressure switch/gauge, it should be kicking on and off around 30-50.
- If this checks out OK, then everything is fine. This should be a yearly maintenance check.
Once a year, it is a good idea to flush your well 24 hours non-stop to keep the water fresh. Call to check into this.
*NOTE:
Jet pump systems can be set at 20#/40# or up to 30#/50#. Submersible pump systems can be set at 30#/50# or up to 40#/60#. Always remember the tank has 2#'s less air when empty from where the switch kicks in at.
